Flat in Vienna, Austria
We live in an old viennise townhouse in the 17. district with a nice and quiet garden. Supermarkets and Shops for all essential needs are just round the corner (as you can see on the map). If you come home from town you can relax in our garden, which is quiet and relatively secluded - it will take you by surprise as we live on the 1st floor!
If you want to chill in town - it won´t take you long to find a good restaurant or a coffee-house nearby. You can also go to the Brunnenmarkt, a traditional old market with a charming atmosphere - especially on Saturday - and nice little and good restaurants.
In summer the "Donauinsel" and the "Alte Donau" are enjoyable places, also easy to reach by tube or on bike. You can reach 2 public swimming pools within walking distance from our house. Public transport by the way is excellent an cheap in Vienna, you can easily reach the outskirts and go for walks in the Viennese Woods or to a "Heurigen" for a glass of wine - you just have to take tram 43 next to our flat.
We won´t tell you much about Vienna nor will we post pictures of the city as you know that it´s a town with a long history and therefore many historic monuments and sites, beautiful museums, a lively classic and modern music scene, with a dance festival in summer, a city of art and literature, contemporary architecture and many cultural facilities. As we live very close to the 1. district you can reach many of these places within only a few minutes by tram.
Vienna waits for you! And we will accomodate you nicely!

Nous avons eu de très bons contacts avec Gerhard et Marlies pour préparer ce voyage. A notre arrivée le gendre Fabio, nous a accueilli chaleureusement malgré notre retard d'avion. En plus c'était un peu au pied leve puisque nous n'avions pas reçu à temps les clés de l'appartement. Gerhard et Marlies ont trouvé tout de.suite la solution. L'appartement était très agréable et surtout très grand. Nous étions idéalement placé dans le centre de Vienne et nous avons fait tout nos déplacements en vélo. A notre retour, nous avons passé une soirée chez nous ensemble et ils sont repartis le lendemain C'était très agréable et très sympa de pouvoir se rencontrer et parler de nos aventures d'échange.
Die Wohnung von Gerhard und Marlies ist wunderschön, weitläufig und komfortabel, schön eingerichtet und hat sogar Zugang zu einem Garten. Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet, es gibt eine Straßenbahn, die ganz in der Nähe fährt und mit der man schnell im Stadtzentrum ist. Die Kommunikation mit Gerhard und Marlies war unkompliziert, sie sind sehr nette, angenehme Leute.
Die Kommunikation mit Gerhard und Marlies war sehr gut. Die Wohnung ist schön und sehr gross und die Lage ist ausgezeichnet. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten direkt vor der Haustüre und in 15 Min. ist man mitten im Zentrum. Wir waren sehr glücklich mit dem Austausch, alles war so wie beschrieben. Wien ist eine wunderbare Stadt!

We are a family of four, but our children are grown up and have already moved out. We are both retired (as former teacher and social paedagoge) since recently (Marlies still does some part time work) and are very interested in all sorts of cultural activities (theatre, cinema, literature, music, dance, ... but we also like walking, cycling, travelling - and spend therefore quite oftenour weekends in the countryside, sometimes with our children or grandchildren. We are Intervac-members since 1989 and had exchanges since then.
