Nice house with garden by the sea
Hello, and welcome to viewing our home.
We have a lovely 4/5 bed house perfect for a family or small group. We are looking to home exchange for 2-3 weeks in August 2024 and are interested in some short trips in school half-term holidays (February or May 2024). We would love to hear from you, please contact us if you are interested.
OUR LOCATION
Our house is in Penarth, a very popular and vibrant seaside town just outside Cardiff, Wales. We are a 15 minute walk from Penarth seafront which has a pier, pebble beach and restaurants. Penarth is a lovely town with lots of local shops, cafes and restaurants.
There is also have a children's park, the local swimming pool, international swimming pool with slides, a harbourside and lots of lovely pubs. There is also a wide range of walks/cycle rides to choose from in the surrounding area, such as beautiful coastal walks, Cosmeston Lakes and Barry Island beach. It is a good place to hike and explore the coastal footpath.
Cardiff City Centre is an easy 10 minutes by train or car.
OUR HOME
Our home is spacious and comfortable.
Downstairs we have a large lounge, large kitchen/diner, a reading lounge/study, the kids playroom and downstairs toilet.
It also has access to the garden and through to the Annex.
On the first floor we have 3 double bedrooms (one with a kindsize bed, one with a double, one with a queensize bed, and 1 single bedroom/office) and a family bathroom, with a toilet, bath and shower.
We also have a separate annex/granny flat which has a lounge, double bedroom, and ensuite bathroom.
The garden is a big and peaceful area to relax in with table and chairs, swing and trapeze. You will have access to our children's outside games such as a paddling pool, swing ball, balls, and a variety of garden games.
OTHER INFORMATION
There is Wifi internet access. We have all the normal appliances: washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, TV, DVD, etc...
We have lots of board games to play and you are welcome to borrow them.

Bristol - 1 hour away by car or train. You can see: SS Great Britain, Clifton suspension bridge, great shops, museums, theatres, cinemas etc.. as well as the well known Balloon Fiesta held in August.
Bath City - 20 minutes by Train
Beautiful Cotswold Villages - 1.30 minutes by car

OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
We live in a friendly family neighbourhood. Our neighbours will be happy to assist you if you need anything. There is a little shop 2 mins walk and a children's park. Cosmeston Lakes are a 10 mins walk from the house, with lakes, a cafe, children's park and woodlands to explore. Penarth Pier and coastal path is 20 mins walk from the house and is very beautiful.
Local shops (Penarth) are 20 minutes walk away (butchers, bakers, greengrocers, pharmacy etc). There is also a great choice of cafés, bars and restaurants. There is also a large supermarket, leisure centre and several children's play parks close by.
CARDIFF BAY
Cardiff bay has wonderful theatre, harbourside and lots of restaurants and bars. You can also do boat trips from here.
CARDIFF
Only 15 minute by train or car (2.5 miles) into the centre of Cardiff - with its good shopping, museums, theatre, and lively nightlife. Other city attractions include: Cardiff castle, The Principality Stadium and Bute Park.
WIDER WALES
The Brecon Beacons national park is an hour away and is perfect for hill walking in the stunning countryside of Wales.
There are lovely beaches around Cardiff.
BRISTOL AND BATH
In August, Bristol is home to the the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. This is Europe’s largest annual meeting of hot air balloons, attracting over 150 Hot Air Balloons from across the globe. The Fiesta truly is a sight that can only be seen in Bristol.
Bath, with quaint shopping arcades and the famous Bath Spa. The ancient site of Stone Henge is nearby.

We had a wonderful exchange with this family in their very comfortable home. The house was very well located: a 20 minuites walk and quick ferry ride away from the centre of Amsterdam. The family were very friendly and welcoming, with great communication. We had a lovely holiday and would highly recommend this family and their home for an exchange.
Mel, Dave et leurs enfants sont très chaleureux. Leur maison est grande et confortable; leur jardin est un havre de paix très fleuri et ombragé. Quand nous sommes arrivés ils nous avaient mis à disposition toutes les informations touristiques et des idées de balades à faire aux alentours de Cardiff. Leur maison est située à proximité du bord de mer ce qui est parfait pour de multiples promenades avec une vue magnifique sur la mer. Penarth est un ville très agréable et vivante. Nous conseillerons aux familles cette destination car il y a à la fois de belles découvertes naturelles et culturelles. Nous avons passés de belles vacances et nous conseillerons à tous les amoureux des grands espaces et de la culture celte un échange au Pays de Galles chez Mel et Dave. A notre retour notre maison était parfaite, nos voisins ont été ravis de faire leur rencontre. Nous avons un chat et des poules qui remercient également Mel et Dave pour avoir bien pris soin d'eux.
We had a wonderful exchange with Elizabeth and family in Chauve, France. Their home was just as represented: it provided a comfortable family homely and a lovely space to spend our holiday. We especially loved the garden with fresh vegetables, daily fresh eggs from the chickens, the swing seat, sandpit and of course the pool. We enjoyed relaxing reading our books and many hours of games at the house. We met with the family who were warm and friendly and even had a couple of days enjoying day trips with Guillaume's dad who was a wonderful host. We enjoyed exploring the local beaches, bodyboarding, cycling, the aqua parc and enjoyed the mechanical elephant in Nante. Our highlight was definitely Poy du Foy, what a magical place to go and visit and well worth the journey! We would highly recommend this exchange.
We had a lovely holiday in Girona, it was very hot and the swimming pool was very welcome! The stunning views were very memorable. The family were lovely, very friendly and welcoming and great communication. We felt very comfortable in their lovely home. We would recommed exchanging with them.

We are a professional couple (a lawyer and a counselling psychologist) with two children aged 12 and 10.
We enjoy being outdoors - walks in the woods, playing on the beach and trips to the park. We are a sociable family and enjoy catching up with friends over a good meal.
We are very good house guests and will treat your home as our own.
We also love looking after any pets you may have, and we have looked after many pets on our previous exchanges.
